My Place
Eastbury Manor House, London
Client: Barking & Dagenham Council
My Place launched at the National Trust property, Eastbury Manor House in Barking. Contributing to the three year long 'Our House' project which allows artists, educators, and heritage experts to explore new ways of transforming alternative education, the project focuses on creativity and heritage in the borough
of Barking and Dagenham.
The exhibition centred on young people in danger of being excluded from lessons and how art can be used to get them back to school. The programme admitted Year 8 pupils referred by their school for a seven-week ‘circuit break’ from the classroom.
The exhibition included artwork by the young people, showing how art can serve in education for those who face being excluded from traditional teaching methods.
